20GB PS3 due for release across Europe in October?
Reports coming in late this evening suggest Amazon, one of the largest retailers of Video games hardware and software online has let slip a possible release date for the 20GB PS3 which remains unreleased in Europe.
Speaking to Spong David Reeves, Head of UK PR said "I haven't seen any. We don't have any here.” While this isn't a direct refusal, it does tend to suggest that Sony are thinking of the 20GB model as a firm strategy for bridging the price gap between the Xbox 360 and PS3.
When the working week starts apace on Monday, we should have some idea of the launch sales figures for the PS3 over the weekend. To get one over on Microsoft, they need to sell 80,000 consoles, with Nintendo's Wii selling almost 150,000 in its opening weekend. While the battle has finally, truly begun, only time will tell who the eventual winner will be this time round. Simon has decided to furnish us with his thoughts, though. You can find them here, and Stuart should also lend his considerable opinion shortly.
