F.E.A.R. on PS3 - release date and added features announced

fear_small.jpgThe PS3 version of Vivendi’s horror-FPS F.E.A.R. has been announced for release on April 20th.

Already available on PC and Xbox 360 and originally planned as a PS3 launch title, the game focuses on the plight of an elite soldier trained to handle anything thrown his way, and who gets put to the test when up against hundreds of soldiers – plus one creepy little girl. Lots of shooting, lots of blood and lots of slow-mo action, it’s a pretty good purchasing choice.

In addition to the single-player bloodbath, there's 16-player multiplayer and PS3 F.E.A.R. is enjoying an exclusive level and weapon, and Instant Action Mode.

“We added a new game mode called Instant Action, which is an arcade style shootout that scores the player on their ability to contend with a ramping up of the FEAR enemy units and their AI evasion routines,” said Rob Loftus, senior producer of the game. “We’ve also added a new weapon and a bonus mission that lets the player jump into the shoes of the Special Force Operational Detachment (SFOD) soldiers that investigated the original Armacham disturbance – basically the incident that was the trigger for the events of FEAR.”

“We won’t be changing the plotline, but we’ll certainly be adding to it with the bonus mission. You’ll get to see what happened to the SFOD squad that the FEAR team is trying to locate in the original storyline.”
