Jesus. I've been playing MotorStorm online for nearly 40 minutes now. I say 'playing'. 38 of those minutes have been spent watching screens saying 'waiting for other players' in the lobby system. The only time I've managed to get into a race, it was a one-lap buzz.

Who in God's name thought this was an acceptable way to run an online lobby? Right now, I've been sitting in a 12-person lobby, and it just says everyone else is 'Preparing'. Are they making the cars from balsa wood and elastic bands? It's an online racing game that doesn't let you race! I'm seething, I really am.

Whatever's wrong with the idea of, if you want to play against random strangers (as opposed to your friends), just lumping people together in the order they log in, then when there's 12 people, starting a race? This is really, really rubbish. AND I was really looking forward to it.

If anyone has any tips on how I can actually race against real people in this game, do post comments to enlighten me. Have I missed some elementary thing? It's making me hate Nirvana and Primal Scream too, which I really resent...

EDIT - Thankfully, the lobby system for Resistance: Fall of Man is much better.
