Fresh Lair sightings hit the web, set for July release

The lucky chaps at IGN have had an exclusive look at the hotly anticipated PS3 title, Lair. Although it clearly has some way to go before reaching gold status, the Factor 5 development team are confident of a July release. For those who don’t know, Lair puts the player in the saddle of a whopping great big dragon – features look to include aerial combat with other dragon riders, ground combat with crowds of hapless foot soldiers and a healthy spot of fortress assault.

Lair is also going to be the make-or-break title for the Sixaxis controller too as controlling your fire-breathing steed will be done by titling the controller. Judging by the article, this is the area that needs the most work, and I think its success or failure has connotations stretching well beyond Lair itself. Sony has had to put up with a lot of criticism about the Sixaxis, which emerged looking very much like an imitation of the Wii’s motion-sensing remote, and Lair could be the best chance to demonstrate that it really has its own merits.
