New Stranglehold screens on web

Stranglehold.jpgA few new shots of multiplatform blaster Stranglehold have been unleashed on the web: you can take a look for yourself here. A collaboration with action movie director John Woo and Midway, this 3rd person action game sees you playing Inspector Tequila (played by Chow Yun Fat) as he embarks on a new fight against crime. Mostly in slow-motion, if previous flicks are anything to judge by. It's currently listed as a September release in Europe. It'll probably have some company, if it follows through on that date.

I’m a sucker for games with good production values. I had an unreasonable like of games like 24 and Rise to Honor, even though I could tell that the gameplay was decidedly average. Storytelling is a quality so often neglected in games. With John Woo involved, the cinematic aspects of Stranglehold are looking pretty good. Hopefully with Midway at the helm and Unreal Engine 3.0 powering the experience, the gameplay won’t be bad either. OK, so it looks a lot like Max Payne. But is that really a bad thing?
