Official PlayStation Magazine to offer Blu-ray discs

PS3andBlurayu.jpgThose of us not so into the downloading scene might be interested to hear that Blu-ray discs are going to come with Official PlayStation Magazine, starting from Friday the 1st of June. The discs will reportedly feature HD game and movie trailers, as well as playable demos. It’s the product of a partnership between Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and Future publishing.

It’s interesting to see Sony promoting an offline means of demo distribution. There are some instances where it could be useful: if you wanted tens of gigabytes worth of demos and trailers, you probably wouldn’t want to download it, especially if you’ve only got 60GB of space on the hard drive. You’ve got to wonder though: are Future and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe actually going to fill the rather massive space offered by the Blu-ray discs? Also, do a lot of gamers still read print gaming magazines? Judging by the GTA Game Informer exclusive, apparently so.
