Gamers Against Violence group created

gamersagai238985m.jpgIt seems that in the States a lot of gamers have had enough of the bad publicity they’re getting, and the whole 'games leads to violence' debate. A number have now banded together to create an organisation called 'Gamers Against Violence' is to host a series of events on Saturdays May 5th and 12th in the New York, Los Angeles, Carson City and Orlando.

According to its website; "Video game media and enthusiasts across the country will take a stand against violence during Gamers Against Violence Week. In response to the continued accusations that video gaming is the catalyst for real-life violence, gamers are standing up for their rights by holding demonstrations of peace throughout the nation. Many locations are also holding fund raisers for families affected by the recent Virginia Tech shootings. There will be four main large scale events happening throughout the country, but individuals are encouraged to hold their own demonstrations."

Let’s hope they do stay peaceful events and that ‘haters’ like Jack Thompson won’t try to rile up the crowds. It’s about time that gamers stood up to these people and made their opinions heard. But is this a US only thing, or do you think Europe will join in the debate a bit more? Let us know your opinions.
