LittleBigPlanet demo this Autumn, well ahead of 2008 release?

LittleBigPlanet_Screenshot_76.jpgLittleBigPlanet is the type of game that we need to see more of on the PlayStation network: it looks original and is designed to take advantage of the online capabilities of the platform. I’m therefore rather excited that a demo is rumoured to be on course for this Autumn, well ahead of the 2008 release date, according to an article on German games site Gamefront (via Spong). Spong has reported however, that there has been no confirmation from Sony. In case you don’t know, LittleBigPlanet is a platformer with a heavy emphasis on physics-based shenanigans and features co-operative play. User-created content plays a big part, with players encouraged to make and distribute their own maps. Kotaku have a preview here.

Sony's online future is looking brighter, especially with the upcoming release of Home. It's good to see the online service used for more than casual and retro gaming. Seeing demos and betas on a PlayStation is new as well: but I guess as the consoles get more into the online gaming scene, we’ll see more demos and betas released. Not only do they serve to get gamers hooked, they also serve as a test for developers, allowing them to tweak the product, particularly essential or online gaming.
