80GB PS3 lands in Korea

Sony has now launched the 80GB version of the PS3 in Korea. To a perhaps slightly underwhelming crowd of photographers, journos and hardcore gamers, Sony made its official unveiling with the help of a rather large four-hour countdown timer. To be fair though, South Korea has always proven to be a bit of a tough crowd when it comes to home consoles as the national preference runs much more towards net-café based PC gaming.

The larger hard drive was apparently necessary to support the included video on demand service. To be honest, 20GB isn’t really going to amount to much in the grand scheme of things and although we may be slightly jealous of the greater capacity, such a small difference isn’t going to make a lot of difference if it ever makes its way across here. 120GB might do, but lets face it, Sony is really going to have to come up with a lot more content to download in the other regions if it wants to make it worthwhile.
