Condemned 2 interview reveals game details

Condemned_2__T-rex.jpgA revealing interview with Monolith over at IGN has shed light on what we can expect to see from the upcoming PS3 title. Speaking about the new forensics system, producer David Hasle said "This time around, we're going to give you a full evidence zone that, when you go into it, has some questions that pop up from Rosa that you can then decide how to react to. It will be up to you to pull out the proper tools necessary to figure out what's going on. You also get to use your practical senses and just use the power of observation. You can zoom in and look around, break out whatever tools you want in real time and draw your own conclusions."

Also talked about was a new combat system that now allows you to throw weapons at the enemy, with Hasle stating it was possible to use this to trip foes up. You can also expect to see the vicious finishing moves make their way back into the game, now allowing you to use the environment as part of the finishing move.

I'm very hopeful about the upcoming sequel. The original was probably the strongest launch titles for the Xbox 360 and it's good to see the PS3 actually gain from the multiplatform trend that seems to be characterising this console generation. I'm glad that the new forensics system is getting an overhaul: of all the elements of the game, it was probably the most contrived and shallow. The original also fell down in not providing enough variety in the combat, something that the sequel will hopefully address. You can take a look at some release artwork for the game here.
