Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has confirmed that Eye of Judgement will be making its way to the PS3 in Autumn. It’s a card battle game, which will make use of the PlayStation Eye. The way it works is simple: you position your PlayStation Eye appropriately, lay out your play mat and start putting game cards on it. Your PS3 will read the unique code on each card, and render 3D monsters over the card on the screen.

It’s a cool idea for a game, but I wonder how willing people are going to be to splash out on extra cards to play the game. You’ll get a starter set to get the ball rolling though. I don’t think it’ll be the hardware defining game that’ll shift the Eye in huge numbers, but it’s a nice little way of extending the trading card game into the digital realm and will certainly have some niche appeal.
