Rumble PS3 controllers rumoured, Sony declines to comment

Img3760_tif_jpgcopy.jpgSony has declined to comment on rumours that there are rumble controllers in the works, according to a recent story over at gamesindustry.biz. As reported previously on PSPSPS.tv, there have been indications that a rumble-capable PS3 pad could be being planned by Immersion and Sony, who have since signed a deal to include Immersion's rumble technology in PlayStation controllers.

In many ways I found the sixaxis a bit of a letdown. The missing rumble features are conspicuous by their absence and the extra axis of control still feels more like a gimmick in most games. The question that faces Sony should the new rumble-capable controllers come out is will they be designed to replace the sixaxis, or be an optional extra? I think there's a good chance we'll see them though. Sony's not been shy about dismissing rumours recently.
