Reports of Half-Life 2: Episode 2 date confirmation
According to website Shacknews, Valve has confirmed that Half-Life: Episode II is heading for an October 9th, 2007 release for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. PS3 owners will be able to buy Episode II as part of a Half Life 2: The Orange Box, which will include both Half-Life 2 and Half-Life 2: Episode One, as well as Team Fortress 2 and Portal.
Half-Life 2 and Episode One were both great plays and if you’ve not played them before, then The Orange Box should provide an excellent opportunity to visit the world of Gordon Freeman. I wonder if it’ll fully take advantages of the console platform though. Shooters for the PC and shooters for the console are very different beasts. Console shooters are designed around the controller and are a little less demanding when it comes to quick turning, pinpoint accuracy and looking up and down. While developers are getting increasingly adept at porting PC hits over and adapting the control schemes in imaginative ways, I suspect that the definitive platform for the game will be PC. Won’t stop it being great fun though. It's also good to know that at least Valve themselves don't believe in charging for downloadable content.
