EA dismisses Rock Band price listing as speculation

rockband01.jpgYesterday, Amazon.com and Gamestop put the price of the complete Rock Band set at $199.99, a price point that EA has stated is just ‘speculation.’ The standalone game was priced at $59.99, with Microphone at $30, and a PS3 wireless guitar going for $60 (although curiously an Xbox 360 wireless guitar is $80).

Whether they’re official or not, I’d be surprised if they weren’t roughly in the area. A lot has been made about the price of the peripherals, with Guitar Hero publisher Activision questioning whether people would be willing to fork out that much for a complete set. Still, I suspect that a lot of people will probably start off buying the standalone pack and one instrument. If the game’s has a good system for allowing bands to form and play together online, I think we’ll see more of the peripherals being bought.
