PS3 sales in Japan looking a bit healthier

PS3packaging.jpgThe latest sales data from Media Create shows that the PlayStation 3 has managed to cross the 10,000 unit threshold in Japan, shifting 11,914 units in the week ending July 1st. It's still being outsold by the Wii by more than 6 to 1 though, with Nintendo's console managing to shift a whopping 73,919 units.

It's unsurprising given the global dearth of games there's been for the PS3 recently. I think the next major push for the PS3 will come in the last few months of the year, when exclusive and semi-exclusive titles like Lair and Haze hit the console. Namco-Bandai's increased focus on the Xbox 360 is definite cause for concern for Sony, though.
