PS3 Sales up 2800% on Amazon due to price cut

53_uparrow_inv.gifAfter yesterday's announcement of a price cut for the PS3, it would've been foolish to suggest that any impact on the machines sales would be negligible. As evidenced by Digitalbattle.com, PS3 has become the number one videogames item on Amazon.com.

Of course, this actually means nothing, as the PS3 wasn't selling all to well via Amazon to begin with, although this high percentage, yet low unit count increase is certainly something for Sony to shout about. The problem is, though, It isn't the U.S alone that needs a solid sales period for the PS3. In fact, the majority of PS3s have been sold in the U.S, with over 1.5m having flown off the shelves since its November launch.

With the European market still faltering, Sony has sold just short of 500,000 machines since its launch in March of this year. Sounds a lot, and compared to the 360 and Wii, its sold more in the first three months than its competitors. However, this is due to the sheer volume of stock made available for launch. If you consider the stock woes suffered by Xbox 360 and Wii due to demand, they've both had a more consistent sell through in terms of units since launch, while the PS3 has suffered, consistently being outsold by its rivals since April.

Where's our price cut, and just how much will it be?
