Sony likely needs to cut the price of the PS3, says Sega

PS3packaging.jpgReuters has recently reported that Sega Corp. corporate director Masanao Maeda thinks that the PS3 will likely need a price cut to stimulate demand. "Since it's getting difficult to make software availability a differentiating factor, superior marketing and pricing strategy will be the key for Sony," he said.

It’s true. The PS3 has had real difficulty getting those exclusives, with developers no longer as loyal to one platform as once they were. Truth told, PS3 and Xbox 360 multiplatform games look fairly similar, for the most part. Given the choice, most people would probably opt for the cheaper hardware when the games look roughly the same. Until Sony nets a few console-defining exclusives, Sony may have little choice but to slash the price of their flagship console.
