Sony has revealed that Gran Turismo 5 will feature 1000 vehicle models, however at the game’s launch, there will only be 340 available. The rest will be released via downloadable content over the following months.

Reports across the internet also state that the game’s developer Polyphony Digital will also develop cars for individual clients. What could this lead to, we wonder?

Opinions differ on the concept of downloadable content, as this could lead to gamers paying out lots of cash to complete their (now massive) collection of vehicles. Will the actual game itself come out at a lower price to compensate, or will Sony milk the franchise’s fans for every penny in their piggie bank?
