Leipzig Games Convention: Buzz goes 'next-gen' for the PS3
Although we didn’t exactly get the fireworks we expected from Sony this week, one of the best announcements the Japanese giant has made is that Buzz! is evolving for the PS3.
Taking advantage of the PlayStation Network, Buzz! will evolve from a series of individual gameshow titles to a whole TV network. Quiz TV as it is known, gives you instant access to almost any subject you can think of, and will be grow and expand via downloadable and gamer-generated content.
March 08 will see the Quiz TV’s official launch, with a disc containing 5000 questions divided into five channels: The Music Channel; The Movies and TV Channel; The Sports Channel; The Knowledge Channel; and The Lifestyle Channel. You’ll be able to choose between playing a whole game with questions from a single channel or select 'Channel Hopper' mode to take a random mix of questions drawn from all five.
But this disc will just be the start, as updating Quiz TV will be simple, as you’ll be able to download new quiz packs in addition to writing and uploading your own!
Add to that Buzz!’s new Sofa vs. Sofa online multiplayer mode, and you can join up with your friends and families on the sofa and take on up to four other global groups in one competition.
We’re big Buzz! fans here at PSPSPS.tv, so we think this new game sounds brilliant, we’re just gutted we’ve got to wait till March for it though. Still, what we wanted from Leipzig was new game announcements rather than unwanted tech, so at least we got one corker today…
