Digital TV Tuner accessory coming to PS3 next year
Sony Computer Entertainment New Zealand’s head of marketing, Warwick Light, has revealed that there are plans for a new Digital TV Tuner accessory heading to the PS3. In a recent interview, Light revealed that "We're also hoping next year – about the same time that Freeview launches its terrestrial broadcasting service (expected to be in March) – to release a digital tuner for the PS3, turning it into a programmable TV recorder”.
Alongside the other multimedia capabilities of the PS3, this seems like a logical step forward in Sony’s unending campaign for dominance of your home entertainment setup. Other than a vague anticipated launch date of early 2008, not much else is known about this new accessory, although according to rumour, a more official announcement should be made at the upcoming Leipzig Games Convention. More as we hear it.
