Sat nav for the PSP - is it even wanted or needed?

psp_satnav_250.jpgAlongside its other announcements Sony has introduced its Sat Nav package for European PSPs called Go!Explore, but is anyone really interested?

Not meaning to rain on Sony’s parade, it’s a nice added feature to have sure, but who will really use it? It offers both pedestrian and in-car navigation, so it might be useful if you get lost somewhere new on-foot, but otherwise we believe people will stick to a product that’s sat nav specific rather than convergent-tastic.

Just in case you’re one of the minority interested in sat nav on your PSP, here’s some of Sony’s blurb on the product:

“Go!Explore supports 11 unique audio languages on every geographic version; English, German, French, Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish. Keeping up with the flexibility and future proof nature of PSP, Go!Explore has access to upgradeable Maps & Points of Interest (PoI) that can be purchased via the PlayStation Network, and to additional maps, POI, downloads and other exciting WiFi features that will be made available in the future.”
