Cut down PS3 to be available for a mere £299?
Rumours emanating from CVG claim that this console generation is going to get even more complicated with yet another different SKU, this time a cut down version of the PS3, about to hit the stores at a tiny £299.
Apparently this cheaper console will be available with only a 40GB hard drive, and will lack both backwards compatibility with both PS2 and PS1 titles, plus will mysteriously not be complete with the USB ports used to charge up the PS3’s Sixaxis controller.
The timing could indeed be absolutely perfect for Sony, stealing Microsoft’s thunder with the imminent release of Halo 3. However, yet another different version of a next generation console on the shelves is only going to confuse consumers even more, something Microsoft have discovered with the recent release of the ‘Elite’ version of the Xbox 360.
More news on this one as soon as we see it.
