Well, we cant escape it can we. Today sees Halo 3's launch and the Master Chief is everywhere. Now, I'm not gonna cuss the game because I do love Halo, but at the same time I'm a bit sick of the hype. Maybe its because I felt that Heavenly Sword deserved more hype/support and didn't get it, but the big thing i've been wondering today is when is Sony going to get its killer title, and what the hell will it end up being?

Pre-launch the industry believed it would either be Resistance: Fall of Man or Motorstorm, but these didn't go down as amazingly as expected. On a more positive note both have been nominated in the gaming BAFTAs, but still, in the 'real world' they weren't huge hits.

Not to go on and on about it, but the next one cited as the PS3's killer app was of course Heavenly Sword. Now, I still think it should well be the PS3's version of X360's Halo 3 when it comes to being THE game to own, but again, it hasn't been the bit hit Sony has been hoping for. Still, I think; or possibly hope, that there might be a delayed reaction in the public domain, or it'll gain a cult following over time, but we'll have to wait and see.

So, what the hell is next then? There's some good games on their way soon - especially with the months leading to Christmas now upon us, but a game to end all games? I'm not sure there is one.

Eye of Judgement could be the next hyped game from Sony. It does look great, but it somehow feels quite niche and I don't think it will have gamers queuing for hours on launch day. Sorry Sony, but it just doesn't look like its going to have a lasting appeal.

With that in mind, I'm not sure the killer title is going to come from Sony's home camp. So where does that leave us? There aren't so many PS3 exclusive titles anymore, with GTA and its ilk going multiformat. Haze isn't around for a long time yet and I'm not so sure how big that'll be anyway, so I think the next best bet - for now at least - could be Assassins Creed. Its looking great, currently not being overhyped, and with the PS3 seeming to focus on artistic merit at the moment, it fits the bill perfectly.

Well whatever it ends up being, lets hope the PS3's killer title comes around soon. I think its needed. The PS3 is a great console, but its not getting the love it deserves because at the moment there just isnt a game that people agree everyone MUST own. I'm not feeling very positive about the concept of us getting one soon, but I'm still hopeful...
