Milla Jovovich likes to game, but makes awful tie-ins
Milla Jovovich - I'm sure you guys think she's great eye-candy, plus she always seems to try to take her kit off in films wherever possible, so that's a big plus, right? Well I like her for very different reasons; she loves to game!
Over the years I've read many interviews with her talking about enjoying gaming, and that's why she jumped at the chance to play Alice in the Resident Evil films. So, with the next movie set to launch soon, she's been out and about promoting the latest in the series, of well, i'm sorry to say, awful Resi tie-ins.
A recent interview snippet on Kotaku was very chuckle worthy however, with the Jovovich explaining that games aren't just good movie fodder; "they're perfect".
"I think the fantastical worlds in video games are very visual so I think they're perfect for movies. I think the danger is that if people are doing it just because it's a good business move they can run into problems. Gamers are very sensitive to people that don't really love the games and aren't fans of the games making movies about them. You really have to love the games to make a good movie about it."
Hmm, does this mean deep down all the people involved hate to game? I mean, who here has watched the Resi movies?! I loved the games, and wanted so badly to love the films, but I couldn't. Sure, to be fair the first movie wasn't too bad - I even went out of my way to buy it in some sort of gaming fan camraderie way, but still 2 was awful, and I'm dreading Resident Evil: Extinction.
But it gets worse, and I think she's put her foot in her mouth in a big way here - she ended the interview with saying she's more of a book person than a games fan. What changed Milla?! Is this why the movies are slowly getting worse?
Well, I'll still go to the cinema and give Resi 3 a chance, but I don't have much hope. If even Milla is going off gaming, how can we possibly expect anything good from it? Our very own Copperhead is more positive about Extinction though, so lets see what the PSPSPS.tv crew think of it after release. We'll give you a round up of our scores...
