With rumours that a Playstation branded mobile phone is currently well in the works, Sony Ericsson president, Miles Flint, admitted that, “it’s an area of possible future activity.”

Though obviously not absolute confirmation, simply regarding the rumours as important enough to encourage an ambiguous response is enough to set pulses racing, and the rumour to turn once more.

Flint also stated that, “we need to make sure that it is a credible phone, and be sure we are justified putting that identity on it.” And he certainly has a huge point, with a large portion of mobiles simply not capable of being enjoyable for gaming, with their tiny buttons and fiddly joysticks.

Once the inevitable happens, it will indeed be interesting to see just what games are brought to the Playstation handsets. Fast moving games are almost always merely an annoyance, and 3D technology is still a long long way from the kind of graphical oomph that us console gamers have enjoyed for over a decade.
