Rumour: FFVII remake for PS3... again!
Still reeling from the horror of the Half-Life 2 delay my mood was instantly lifted at the even minuscule possibility of a Final Fantasy VII remake for the PS3 and the Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu are certainly throwing fuel on that fire after speaking to a number of Square Enix bigwigs recently.
The guys from Famitsu managed to grab some interview time with a whole host of Square Enix staff including executive producer Yoshinori Kitase, producer Hideki Imaizumi, director Hajime Tabata, and character designer Tetsuya Nomura to discuss Crisis Core and future Square Enix projects.
Not only did they reveal in the interview that the PSP game Crisis Core almost fills up an entire UMD disc but they also went on to discuss the issue of a FFVII remake (a VERY hot topic since before the PS3 was even launched with that awesome FFVII tech demo). Square Enix are planning to announce a new game at this years Tokyo Game Show and now speculation is spreading like wildfire that this might be the fabled remake!
Imaizumi has said that the remake of FFVII is more a question of timing, which would imply that it is a very serious consideration for Square Enix and should the game ever see the light of day the sales of the PS3 would, more than likely, sky-rocket, at least in Japan. Also confirmed is that this mysterious new title is NOT Kingdom Hearts III which they have previously confirmed that they will be unveiling at TGS.
So with bated breath we wait for TGS and keep our fingers crossed for some good news!
