TGS 07: No imminent PS3 price cut
Though rumours prior to the Tokyo Game Show hinted towards a surprise PS3 price cut announcement, Sony boss Kaz Hirai has stated that there will be “no surprise in this regard this year.”
Instead, Hirai stated that “the urgent matter is to what extent we can further enrich the software titles.” Which, really, is a pretty fair point considering the still quite light number of titles available for the expensive console.
It’s a slight disappointment, and I’m sure that even a small slither chopped off the retail price of the console would have come close to stealing the show for Sony. Instead, it’ll be interesting to see what kind of bundle deals stores have on offer over the Christmas period. At present moment, you can easily bag yourselves a console, a couple of games, and an extra pad for the £425 price that the console retails for on its own.
