60GB PS3 to be discontinued in Europe - yet more confusion
Another day, another announcement with regards to the kinds of PS3 we’ll be seeing on the shop shelves. This time, Sony have confirmed that once the current stock of those 60GB PS3’s that all us early adopters picked up, no more will be knocked up. Meaning that the freshly announced 40GB version of the console will be the only one to be found.
Nick Sharples, director of corporate communications in Europe (cracking title) said “The 60GB Starter pack will remain on sale until stocks run out. Thereafter, the 40GB model will be the only SKU in the SCEE region.”
So all that talk prior to the PS3 launch, ridiculing Microsoft and their multitude of different console SKU’s seems a long way away now. Smacks of Sony not really realising what gamers truly wanted from the latest in the line of Playstation consoles in all honesty. What happened to the days of just one single kind of console that all of us had under our TV’s?
