Relax, UT3 delay means more maps for PS3 players says Rein

ut3_4h.jpgEpic's Mark Rein has given the PS3 gaming community a silver lining for the UT3 delay cloud. On the official Unreal Tournament 3 forum, Rein made this statement:

“In addition there is some good news as a little extra time in development means that now the PS3 version will have all of the same maps as the PC version whereas we previously expected to ship a fewer maps on console.” “The PC version is still on track for November with a downloadable demo to be made available prior to retail release,” he added.

Well, that’s some good news, I suppose – but I still wouldn’t be at all surprised to see the PC version being held back in a similar fashion. The November release window is already looking mighty crowded – and not just with the usual pre-Xmas dross – there’s an absolute bucket load of Triple A titles due out at the same time.

UT3’s arrival would pit it directly against fellow shooter Crysis which is offering a very serious multiplayer component along with its strong single-payer foundation. Epic and Midway might be inclined to follow the console versions in gunning for a Q1 release once things have calmed down some.
