Firmware 2.01 manages to break PS3 Call of Duty 4

cod4.jpgAfter the big bug filled mess that was firmware update 2.0 for the good old PS3, version 2.01 swiftly came out to fix all those nasty parasites, and get us back to some hardcore gaming. Well, as long as that gaming didn’t involve Call of Duty 4.

In addition to the much talked about multiplayer issues with the online portion of Call of Duty 4, it seems that a multitude of gamers – if the official forums are to be believed – have started to receive error messages preventing them from taking part in some hectic gun based battle, once they’ve downloaded this latest update.

Can’t say I’ve spotted any such messages myself. Though that’s mainly because I’m playing the 360 version. But it’s a bit of a major minus point for Sony and Infinity Ward, even if this dirty situation lasts for a mere handful of hours. I remember the times when it was only PC gaming that was blighted with patches, error messages, and lack of playtime causing you to tear out your hair by the clump as you spent yet another evening struggling to play your latest purchased title.

It hasnt broken COD4 at all. The problems are with Infinity Ward not the PS3.

Was that when the PC was the only way to play online?
