Grand Turismo 5 Prologue does big numbers in Japan - number 3 in all-format chart

gran_turismo_5_2.jpgNot really a great shock to fans of the series, but the recently released Gran Turismo 5 Prologue on PS3 has managed to shift a quite hefty 116,000 copies to claim third spot in the Japanese all-format top ten.

Unfortunately it’s the only PS3 titles in the top ten. In fact, it’s the only non-Nintendo format specific title in the top ten full stop. No appearance by any brand of Microsoft product whatsoever, which is always about as surprising as night turning into day.

A good start for GT5 of course, and a good sign for when the next REAL Gran Turismo title is ready to hit the charts. But Nintendo’s domination is always a depressing sight considering the hold Playstation products have traditionally had in the Japanese top ten over the past decade.

Hopefully some new top class PS3/PSP entertainment next year can start to turn things around. It’s bound to happen at some point.
