GTA IV gunning for April 25th, 2008 release? Rumours say yes, Rockstar offers half-hearted denial
MCV reckons it has gotten the scoop on the officially unofficial GTA IV release date. April 25th is the day to book the kids in for an extended weekend at their eccentric auntie’s house, for this when ‘senior industry sources’ reckon the game will be arriving. It is surprising because that’s missing the Easter weekend (because chocolate bunnies and the death of Christ always make me think about video games) normally a popular time to launch a big title.
It is also on the far side of the previously expected Feb-April release date and with the game having just squeezed through Aussie ratings board standards, we were optimistic about seeing something a little sooner. Still, that leaves a good few months for those games that missed their Xmas window (Haze? Where’ve you got to?) to get some sales in before GTA comes along and stomps all over everything.
Rockstar hasn’t confirmed this date directly. Instead it has gone for the stereotypical “we don’t comment on rumour and speculation” answer, which as we well know is gaming company code for “oh fuckles, you’re jolly well spot on”. Roll on April.
