Unofficial 'Howard Stringer Week' continues - he's happy with Wii shortages

Howard%20Bio%20Photo.jpgIn the print edition of today's lefty fish wrapper The Guardian, there's an extensive article on how the PS3 is about to take over the world. While they're a little late in picking up on increased PS3 sales, there's some great new quotes from Sony Chairman and Welsh champion Sir Howard Stringer. Aside from musing on the public's gradually increasing optimism towards the console, Stringer had some brilliant words on the PS3 outselling the Wii last month: "I'm happy that the Wii seems to be running a bit short of hardware. The PlayStation3 will come into its own because it's games are infinitely more fun demanding and exciting".

That's what we like Howard; confidence! He also said "The question people quite rightly asked was if the PS3 was going to get through this early. I feel much more confindent about that now". So, more signs of good times ahead for PS3 owners. With Sony as a whole expecting a six-fold operating profit increase this year, and a recent 'substantial' sum invested in the company from Dubai, It really does look like the PS3 is about to gain the momentum it has always deserved. Still, there's is caution from professional observers. Speaking about Sony and the PS3, Hiroshi Kamide of equity researcher KBC Securities considered; "my feeling is that they will continue to have a better time of it, but there is still a mountain to climb". A mountain made of stockpiled Wiis perhaps.
