Koei bringing Persona 3 to Europe next month - the last good reason to own a PS2?
Koei has announced that PS2 title Persona 3, part of the Shin Megami Tensei role playing series, will be arriving in Europe on February 29th. Other than the fact that it offers a very original take on traditional RPG structure and was generally well received by critics, why should we really care?
Well, this might just be the last first class game the poor old PS2 will get to enjoy. It hasn’t been having a great run of late – small wonder given the arrival of its big brother – and nearly all of the new games we write about are just ports of PSP games.
The PS2 is getting on in years and, inevitably, production of anything but the most soulless gameshow cash-ins is just going to cease. But at least there’s a good reason to give the old girl a dust off and put her through her paces for one last bout of role playing action.
Persona 3 is set in a Japanese High School where, by day, all is apparently normal and you can socialise, go shopping etc. At night, in the Dark Hour, the school become infected with hideous creatures with whom you do battle with help from other students and your own Persona special abilities.
