Rockstar decrees April 29th to be Grand Theft Auto IV day
The headline really covers the all the important parts of this announcement. So here it is again for the hard of reading – April 29th, GTA IV. Be there. Unless you’re not a GTA fan, in which case that would be a good time to avoid games shops entirely. The 29th is a Tuesday though, so Friday May 2nd would seem like a safer bet for the UK. Unless Rockstar are feeling particularly generous and want to give it to us on the 25th as MCV suggested a while back.
This date misses Easter weekend too, which is apparently a lucrative period for games sales. I’m not sure that this would make once ounce of difference to GTA though. In fact MGS4 is about the only thing that could put a dent in it now and that looks set to arrive a fair bit later.
Incidentally, this isdate is set for both PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, which is great for PS3 owners who have had to put up with a few delayed titles so far. However, as far as I can tell, all previews of the game have been shown on Xbox 360s, so we’ll be keeping our eyes closely peeled for any footage or reports from the PS3 version of the game.

Gotta say that Rockstar always does a stunning job of ensuring that little titbits of info that usually sound amazing trickle out at perfectly measured pace in the run up to these games. Helps when its GTA game I suppose. It does look awesome though :)
