Dutch gaming site, XGN, is reporting that the Xbox 360 will not be the only console to get downloadable content for Rockstar’s upcoming fourth Grand Theft Auto title. And that means that PS3 owners could well be getting the chance to buy extras for the game. However, the veracity of this claim – which so far Rockstar has treated with the standard “we don’t comment on rumours blah blah blah” – has yet to be confirmed, so treat it as rumour for now.

Microsoft, which is believed to have coughed up to a staggering $50m for exclusive rights to downloadable episodes, might be pretty upset by this news. However, it is suggested that although the PS3 would be getting its own downloadable content, it would not include extra missions or chapters in the story. Exactly what this will be is not yet known, but new vehicles or weaponry seems pretty plausible.
