Skype heading to PSP

Could this be Sony's worst kept CES secret? The electronics giant’s CES website has a whole ton of info on its billions of products, but the one that’s caught the internet’s attention today is an otherwise unassuming morsel of info in a part of the PSP section, reading “Call friends, trash talk to fellow gamers or catch up with acquaintances via Skype for PSP system”.

So there you have it – PSP owners are going to get to use Skype. There’s good odds on this coming as part of a free firmware update. However, as the PSP has no microphone built-in, there’s a possibility that a whole Skype package might be sold as part of a microphone accessories bundle. The only way we can find out for sure is to fly out to Vegas and ask at the Sony booth. And as luck would have it, that is exactly what I’ll be doing this weekend. More info as soon as I can get it.
