Sony deny rumoured price cut. Damn them and their price policies

ps32.jpgSeems all that chat about an imminent price drop for the PS3 was all fancy water cooler chatter, as Sony have come out and flat out denied that there are any truth to the rumours that the 40GB machine is due to hit $299 any day now.

Apparently the chatter is “purely rumour and speculation.” Which is a bit of a shame, as this drop could very easily have given the console an incredible boost in terms of sales, just as gamers are eager to get in their pro-orders for GTA IV.

Of course this isn’t the first time Sony have denied all talk of a price cut only for that exact thing to happen in the not too distant future. But this one does seem to a firm denial from a company that really don’t have any plans to drop the price of their number one console in the near future. A shame for those of you eager for some cheap HD gaming goodness.

Chris,

You must realise by now that "purely rumour and speculation” actually means "how the devil did you know that, you're not supposed to know yet!" Reckon we'll have to wait for GTA IV for the price war to really kick off again though.

Hey...I was holding that back for another post ;) My money is still on a 'suprise' drop around the launch of GTA IV. Anyone else fancy a piece of the action?
