The incredibly generous EB Games / Gamestop promotion that we reported last week has unfortunately been cancelled. In what appeared to be an absurd act of generosity, the games retailer was going to over Free Radical's upcoming shooter as a zero risk incentive to players, just as long as they pre-ordered it. Under the original plans, those who reserved a copy would have been allowed to return the game within a week and get a full refund, assuming they didn't like it of course.

Unfortunately, the promotion was a result of a communication breakdown between the retailer and the publisher Ubisoft. Frankly, a gamble of that magnitude would have required a heck of a lot of confidence in the game. It would be rather amazing if Ubisoft really did feel that way about it, but what are the chances of it actually beingthat good, eh?
