GTA IV contains eight hours of cut scenes
Our mortal enemies friends over at Xboxer are that BBFC GTA IV rating breakdown reveals that the game contains over eight hours of cutscenery goodness. That's a pretty hefty amount of footage no matter which way you look at it.
It's heartening in the sense that there are more than few whole games that don't last that long (we're looking at you Heavenly Sword), yet alone the footage contained therein. That's edging into Metal Gear Solid territory right there (well, almost) to the point where you might want to put the kettle on before completing a mission.
However, it might be a bit off the mark - we're basing the assumption on the sentence from the BBC that reads: "When submitted to the BBFC the work had a running time of 463m 0s."
Two things could have inflated the figure. Firstly, some of the footage submitted to the BBFC could potentially have included shots from in-game, of what players can do while they run around Liberty City. Secondly, some early previews noted that the GTA IV uses a system which slightly alters mission intros so that if you get stuck and are forced to repeat the same portion over and over again, you'll at least have some variety in what you see.
Given the trouble Rockstar got into with the Hot Coffee scandal and allegedly concealing controversial content, it would probably have been extra keen to ensure that the BBFC had access to the whole shebang.
