Yet another analyst claim - GTA IV to sell 5.8 million copies in first week

GTA_screen6.jpgOh you crazy analyst types. What mad prediction are you going to make next? Well this time it's guessing that Grand Theft Auto IV might just be a little bit popular.

With Take-Two apparently admitting that pre-orders for GTA IV were beating even their lofty estimations, Janco Partners' Mike Hickey has stated that "GTA IV could ship 5.8 million units in the first week."

That's a pretty strong claim, since that's an incredibly large number of games to sell. Not that it's probably not entirely true, considering its one of the very few titles that most gamers will actually go to a store and pre-order. Though predicting that GTA IV is to be popular isn't exactly a wild claim now is it.

What's going to be much more interesting is to discover which version sells more. Yes the Xbox 360 version has the downloadable content, but as for the PS3, at least we're not half as worried that our consoles will decide to die a red coloured death the day before release. Now that would be frustrating.
