Sony deny rumours of PS2 PSN downloads to be shown at E3

ps2psn.jpgYou might remember that quite a while ago we brought you a little rumour that Sony were aiming to replace the PS3s hardware compatibility with PS2 game downloads via the PSN. Well, they've cropped up once again, but this time Sony have been quick to deny any such plans.

A cheeky screenshot displaying the PSN offering a download of Metal Gear Solid 2 for £12.99 has been swiftly mocked by Sony, with Patrick Seybold stating that, "I'm not sure where the image came from."

When asked about the possibility of such a feature arriving in the future, Seybold simply said, "At this point, we haven't made any announcements, and there are no plans for PS2 downloadable titles on PS3."

So is it a mock up? Or a leaked image that's just spoiled Sony's big announcement for E3? The big one for me is, if this IS a true image, how the bloody hell do Sony have the balls to try and charge us £12.99 for Metal Gear Solid 2?!
