PS3 version of Fallout 3 not *quite* as good on PS3, fanboys predictably explode

recker.jpgThe internet caught fire briefly when it was recently announced a when Future Publishing's PSM3 review of Fallout 3 was leaked. As you might expect, one line was singled out for attention- "The PS3 version compares poorly to its Xbox and PC counterparts."

Of course, it's a little less damning if you read it in the extra context that provided by the magazine's blog. "...the PS3 version looks the same as on Xbox, but things in the distance are slightly jaggier/rougher, the textures seem 'muddier' up-close and the frame rate is choppier..." the website wrote, explaning the review. However, it added that "the difference between the Xbox and PS3 versions won't hamper your enjoyment of the game in ANY WAY."

Still not the best of news for Sony though. While the difference may be pretty negligible, the PS3 still costs more than twice as much as a basic Xbox 360 capable of running Fallout 3. If you didn't have a next-gen console, and were tempted by Fallout 3, which console you go for? The one retailing for £129.99 that can play the title slightly better, or the one going for an RRP of £299.99?
