Resistance 2 to feature cunning Resistance PSP synergy
Sony's announced that upcoming Resistance 2 and PSP title Resistance: Retribution will feature some cunning PSP/PS3 synergy. Hooking up your PSP will let you unlock an extra mode called Infected. Set place in an (alternate ) alternate history where Grayson becomes a Specter and suffers from an odd strain of the Chimeran virus that gives him the ability to regenerate health and breath underwater. He'll also get a Resistance 2 gun and be able to unlock plasma grenades for himself.
Also included is a PSP Plus mode, which will let you control the PSP title using a DualShock 3. This'll include rumble and make aiming easier, but the game will increase in difficulty and take away aim assistance. To activate, simply plug in the PSP via USB, and select "Infect my PSP."
The unlockable content is a neat idea, but there isn't anything particularly different to having the content unlockable via a downloadable code. Playing the game with the DualShock 3 seems a little pointless, given the PSP's main appeal is its portability. Still, it might appeal to some hardcore Resistance fans.
