Ubisoft talks Prince of Persia DLC plans

Princeofp.jpgGiven that Prince of Persia is a triple-A release, it probably won't surprise you to hear that DLC is being planned by Ubisoft. But what's planned sounds a bit better than some of the more pointless addons we've seen recently. Ubisoft producer Ben Mattes has stated that "The intention is to do downloadable content that adds significant value, so I don't think you'll see downloadable content of a new skin or a new weapon or something like that.

"If we're going to do it, it's going to be a new story, a new experience, maybe a prequel, maybe a sequel...In terms of when: sometime next year - I'm not sure of exactly when, it's all still in discussion"

It sounds like a good plan. There's an awful lot of potential in DLC for adding on new story content to retail titles. It's not a potential we've really seen fully explored on the PS3 yet. I'm just hoping that the game turns out OK. The original Sands of Time game for the last generation of consoles packed in some genuinely innovative gameplay mechanics, wrapped up in fantastic plot with genuinely likeable characters. As long as you ignored the sequel, it was great stuff. The new Prince of Persia's got a lot to live up to.
