Final Fantasy XIII trailer shows off combat system

XIII01_psd_jpgcopy.jpgAnother trailer for the upcoming Final Fantasy XIII has landed, featuring a much anticipated look at the game's combat system, which appears to be turn based. You can take a look at it here. The good news is that it's looking a lot more cinematic than previous fighting systems, with characters ducking and weaving past enemy blows as they strike. As you might expect, the game also continues the series' high production values and graphical standards. The cutscenes look fantastic and the game character models appear to be pleasingly detailed.

The fighting system *looks* very good. They can be a bit of a mixed bag, visually speaking, with impressive summon sequences offset by long periods where the characters just stand around, not doing much. I'm just hoping that the game does something interesting with turn-based combat. We've seen turn-based gameplay explored a lot, but few games really manage to innovate with it.

Forget it. Anything with "Shiny Media" written on it (apart from Tech Digest and Shiny Shiny) is now completely dead.

Try Pocket Lint or someone :)
