Final Fantasy XIII won't get international release until 2010

Final%20Fant%20XIII%202.jpgBad news- we're not going to see Final Fantasy XIII outside of Japan until 2010. Speaking to Reuters, Square Enix boss Yoichi Wada stated that the game wouldn't be released overseas until April of 2010 or later. Bummer.

Sad though it may be, it's not the greatest shock. Although the game's due out in Japan this year, previous European releases of Final Fantasy have often been almost a year behind their Japanese counterparts. You can probably thank the scads of text that the dialogue heavy series normally contains, text that's got to be painstakingly translated. We've not see an awful lot of Final Fantasy XIII yet, but I'm hoping that it plays as well as looks like a next-gen game and manages to introduce some new gameplay mechanics.
